SandSI is contributing to the promotion of eco-friendly sporting practices in cities

Sport and Sustainability International (SandSI) is contributing to the promotion of eco-friendly sporting practices in cities: the kick-off of the “City, Green, Go!” EU-funded project.

A group of enthusiastic partners gathered on 27 January at the prominent ice-skating rink of Budapest to kick off the “City, Green, Go!”, project funded by the European Union that runs for 2 years from December 2022 to November 2024.

“City, Green, Go!” aims to promote eco-friendly sporting practices primarily by encouraging citizens to be more active. Highlighting the interconnectivity between nature and sport, the program also leverages physical activity to raise awareness of the importance of environmental protection. The main outcome of the project is a directory that provides relevant stakeholders with hands-on practices to increase the sport and physical activity levels and the environmental awareness of urban populations.

The project will be coordinated by the Budapest Sports Service Provider Nonprofit LTD, a nonprofit company connecting sports to the residents of Budapest. Apart from SandSI, the partnership includes ISSINOVA, an independent institute for research, innovation, and sustainability, Sport and Citizenship, a multidisciplinary think tank that advocates for the integration of sport and physical activity as a cross-cutting tool for public policies, and International Culture and Sports Association (ISCA), an international NGO empowering the organization to enable citizens to enjoy their human right to move.

SandSI will contribute to the development of the directory with its vast expertise in the field of sport and sustainability. We will also organize workshops for our members to test the usability of the directory.

We really look forward to this international cooperation!
