SPORTS FOR CLIMATE ACTION

SandSI is taking part in the UN Climate Change’s new climate action for sport movement. This initiative aims to support and guide sports actors in reaching global climate change objectives.

Race to Zero

Together, sports organizations can take part in the climate neutrality journey, taking responsibility for their climate footprint and therefore incentivizing climate action beyond the sports sector. Thereby, contributing to global ambition rising in response to the dangers of climate change.

Sports for Climate Action Objectives

  • Creating a well-defined path for the global sports community to combat climate change through commitments and partnerships.

  • Using sports to unite and create solidarity among global citizens in order to take climate action.

What is a carbon footprint?

Our daily activities contribute to the total amount of greenhouse gases (including carbon dioxide and methane) we produce, which is known as our carbon footprint.

Calculate your Sports organization’s Carbon footprint

The first step in addressing climate change is to determine your organization’s current level of carbon emissions.

The first step was calculating your organization’s Carbon footprint. Now, based on that information, you can start making decisions to reduce your emissions.

Once you have determined your firm's emissions, established a reduction programme, and recorded your new standing, there is still more work to be done! You can offset your organisation's emissions by donating to climate preservation initiatives.

From 2021 onward, all signatories must submit annual public reporting in order to maintain Sports for Climate Action signatory status and maintain credibility of the commitments.
