SandSI welcome Philippe Duperrex as Secretary General

Sport and Sustainability International (SandSI) are pleased to welcome Philippe Duperrex to the organisation as the newly appointed Secretary General.

SandSl is a non-profit Swiss association with headquarters based in Lausanne. Founded in 2017, SandSI seeks to accelerate sustainability in and through sport, aligning its activities with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SOG). A global membership organisation, SandSl’s current membership is comprised of sport and non-sport entities as well as individuals representing 40+ countries, across all continents.

Prior to joining SandSI, Duperrex served as the General Secretary at Athletissima, an annual Wanda Diamond League athletics event set in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he was heading the Executive Office, and leading administrative and strategic initiatives. Previously, he was the Senior Corporate Governance & Compliance Officer at The Union of European Football Association (UEFA). Experienced in Corporate Governance and International Business affairs, Duperrex brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Secretary General role with SandSI.

“We are thrilled to welcome Philippe Duperrex as our Secretary General at SandSI,” said Julia Pallé, President of SandSI. “Under Philippe’s leadership, our organisation will be on the right path toward attaining the goals we set out for 2030, in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.”

Duperrex will take over this role from Founding Director Geert Hendriks, who has held the role ad-interim since 2018 and who will continue to serve the organisation as a member of the SandSI Board of Directors as well as chair of Football4Climate and the SDG Sport Lab.

Working in collaboration with SandSI’s Board of Directors and dedicated volunteer led working groups, Duperrex will be responsible for leading the next phase of sustainable growth of the organisation.

“I am honoured and excited to join the SandSi organisation,” said Duperrex. “I look forward to applying my experience to further SandSI’s mission and help create a more equitable and sustainable field of play for future generations.”

Duperrex assumed the role of Secretary General with SandS! commencing January 1, 2021.
