eSkootr Championship Partners with SandSI to Mobilize Sustainability in Sport

March 5, 2021 - Sport and Sustainability International (SandSI) is pleased to welcome eSkootr as a new member to the organization.

eSC is the world’s first-ever international electric race scooter series. The championship, which will hold its first event in 2021, will race specially developed high-speed electric scooters in the heart of major cities. The series has been developed to make international motorsport more accessible, affordable, safe and sustainable than ever before.

Through this strategic partnership, SandSI will support and reinforce eSC’s on-going sustainability efforts, both on and off the racetrack. Dedicated to transforming the way we move through cities, eSC has committed to achieving a net-zero carbon footprint by 2022 as part of the UN’s Climate Neutral Now program.

“We are very pleased to welcome eSC as our newest member to SandSI,” said Philippe Duperrex, Secretary-General of SandSI. “The partnership provides an opportunity to leverage the emerging eScooter market trends we are seeing, and we look forward to supporting eSC in their effort to provide more sustainable solutions for cities – both locally and globally.”

According to a Global eScooter Market 2020-2024 Report by market research firm Technavio, the global e-scooter market will grow by 2.13 million units between 2020-2024, presenting a CAGR of nearly 6% during the forecast period*.

“We created the eSkootr Championship™ around the central concepts of sustainability, safety, inclusivity and affordability,” added eSkootr Championship™ co-founder and CEO Hrag Sarkissian. “We’re building a sport that’s available to all, and which benefits society in many different ways. We all believe that all sport should uphold important social values, and we’re proud to be partnering with SandSI to amplify that message across the world. We couldn’t ask for more like-minded partners than SandSI.”

With the first championship races set to take place in 2021, eSC is leading the way in providing more sustainable and innovative micromobility solutions for sport as well as for daily city life. Together, SandSI and eSC will endeavor to inspire cities and its people to adopt safer and more sustainable mobility solutions.

“As the world increasingly looks to sport for leadership in social responsibility, we’re also seeing a growing requirement for conventional motorsport to adapt, develop and diversify.”
