Sport and Sustainability International held its annual statutory meeting on 12 December 2020. The online event gave opportunity to the around 30 Members present to influence SandSI’s work. Apart from the approval of the yearly budget and activities, the Assembly unanimously re-elected Julia Palle and Vincent Gaillard, respectively, as President and Vice-President, as well as elected Ingrid Beutler as a new Board Member. We are glad to welcome Ingrid Beutler as New Board Member, who is sports advisor with nearly 20 years of experience working within international organisations with the commitment to ensuring sport is participative, impactful and ethical. Ingrid has acquired global expertise in ensuring sport is conducted ethically and in compliance with international and national laws, so we look forward to her contribution in the years to come.

Despite the geographical distances, the online Assembly also made it possible for Members to openly discuss current issues and share ideas. Members were with one accord on the opinion that sustainability’s importance has been increasing in their respective organisations and sports. Thus, SandSI’s focus on sharing experiences and showcasing good examples are essential to help Members, in particular, and the sport sector, in general, in improving sustainable practices towards carbon neutrality and zero waste.

SandSI thanks all Members for their support and looks forward to gathering again at the Extraordinary General Assembly planned for mid-2021. Until then, follow us on our different media channels for recent updates!
